Genuine Innocence
She sat down,
Trying to concentrate on what
The lesson was all about.

However, she couldn't.
Couldn't stop feeling the burning sensation on her cheeks
Every time he pause for a while
And scanned his eyes around the class,
Barely taking notice of her.

He was just a normal teacher
And her,
An average student.

He was in his early to mid thirties
And her,
An average 14.

Their age group ------ too far apart
But yet,
He attracted her.

In what ways?
She could never tell for sure.

Was it his smile?
His weird jokes
That people couldn't figure them out?
Or was she just
Feeling sorry for him?

She tried to figure it out
But couldn't think of any reasons inside out.

He wasn't popular,
He wasn't good looking.
He wasn't ugly either.
He was just a regular nerd.

She was confused.
Her heart and mind in a twirl.

She couldn't think straight.
Couldn't sort out her emotions.

He didn't feel the same way for her
As she felt for him.

Or at least that was
What she thought.

They were practically world's apart
Impossible to be together
In society's standard.

She was in deep thoughts
When the bell rang for his last lesson.

She broke out of her thoughts
As the class stood up to say goodbye.

Giving a slight smile back to the class,
He took his books and walked off.

She, sitting right beside the classroom door
Opened it and walked out of the class.

Standing in the empty corridor,
She watched his departing figure
Slowly disappear round the bend.

She suddenly felt so empty.
She wanted him so badly.
Was it wrong at all?

She couldn't help it.
She wanted to run to him,
Wanted to hug him.
Wanted to be held
Safe in his arms.

Was this all wrong?
A tear rolled down her pale face.

There wasn't much time left.
He would be leaving soon,
For good.

She couldn't contain all the emotions within her.
She couldn't think.
She couldn't breathe.

She thought bitterly of
How two people were fated to meet,
But not meant for each other.

Fate was obviously playing a cruel joke on her.

All of a sudden
Her mind came clear.
All the thick emotions
That was all entwined together
That was suffocating her heart,
Broke loose.

Her legs started to move on their own
As though they were magic.
She started to run towards him.

She didn't care if
He didn't love her.

All she cared
Was that she was going for
The sake of love.

A confession of her feelings,
A confession that was going to hurt her.

She didn't care.
She didn't need to care,
Confessing her genuine innocence.
