In a cage I learned of freedom
I've heard it spoken wrong
I've heard of hatred bleeding
And love left living true
These things I've heard are dead
In this cage I learn of hate
In this cage of false debate
Independent thought destroyed
And censorship encouraged
Banning books and waving flags
Neo-Nazis, stars-and-stripes
Swastika red-white-and-blue
Their dreams have all come true
Now we hate patriotically
And the media supports it
Those who speak against destroyed
Those who bow are loved
Our causes are forgotten
What happened to our bravery?
What happened to our freedom?
What happened to rebellion?
What do you think we're all about?
A&W, mcdonalds, fear and doubt
The nation I once knew is dead
This country that I love
This hatred of my land
I think before I go to bed
And leave my mind to sleep
God bless the land angels fear to tread
God bless america, the dead
