The thought of you used to bring an immediate smile
twitching uncontrollably to my lips;
right now it makes me a little sad, I think.

Do you realize how selfish you are?
You fell in love with me,
then made me fall in love with you--
and now you're running.

You care only about your own heart;
don't you know what you're doing to mine?
You think you're the only one who's been burned?

Your scars perhaps run more deeply than mine,
but that's because I've never let anyone get so close...
until now.

You have, and you've been hurt,
and you've learned your lesson the hard way.
Do you think it's time to teach me mine?

You're so fickle. You act as though you
care for me, but when I return the affection
you make me feel like I'm being a burden.

Maybe in an attempt to avoid those who have
hurt you, you've become just like them.

But know this:

Even if it hurts
--because I've let you get too close already--
I'll take the pain.

Your happiness is all that matters to me--
regardless of my own thoughts or feelings.
You're the only one in the world I care about.

So be as selfish as you want, love.
Because, just as you yourself believe,
the world--the universe--
revolves only around you.
