Author’s Notes: Wow, another fiction. I hope you all will like it. Oh and by the way, Mil Marriott and Kelsey Brem are not my original characters, a friend asked to me to use them in this story. All the other characters are mine. ^____________^
The Steps to Become Prom Queen
Chapter 1
Mil Marriott sighed and continued to eat her chocolate hearts. She was at home watching television. “This is stupid, it’s boring today. I hate Valentine’s Day. I don’t have a date, there’s nothing to do on this boring holiday,” the brunette said.
She closed the television with the remote control and placed the chocolate box on the table before lying on the sofa looking at the ceiling. “Boring…boring…boring day…” she sang.
Then the door opened to reveal another girl, her age coming in, Kelsey Brem. She held books in her arms and looked tired. “You know, Mil, you should at least help me carry some books,” Kelsey said.
Mil got off the sofa and helped Kelsey with some of her books. Mil scanned the books. “These are romance novels, when did you get into these things?” Mil asked. She looked at a pink covered book with heart designs decorated on it.
“Never, it’s only for today. I mean, it’s V-day, Mil! Let’s read some books!” Kelsey exclaimed. The girls both dropped the books on the same table Mil placed her chocolate box on.
“Hmm? Oh, Mil, you bought the chocolates?” Kelsey asked. She picked the box up and popped a chocolate ball into her mouth. “Mmm, these taste good.”
“Take the rest, I don’t care,” Mil shrugged. She sat on the sofa again and looked at books Kelsey got. “You borrowed them or did you buy them?”
“I bought them, heh, we’ll need them anyway. We can’t be a single every Valentine’s Day. We need to find ourselves a man,” Kelsey said happily. She took the last chocolate out and ate it. When she finished the whole box, she threw it in the garbage can.
“I don’t think it’s that easy, Kelsey,” Mil said shaking her head. She got up went to the kitchen and grabbed a soda. “Do you want a soda too?”
“Nope,” Kelsey answered. She was looking through the books. “Ooh, this one looks nice, look, Mil, there’s a quiz here! You know the tests where they tell you how your dream boy is!”
“Those are fake,” Mil said. She came out of the kitchen with the soda can. She sat beside Kelsey and looked at the book.
“Fine, fine, fine, umm…well, let’s just talk about your life first….soo…you have anyone in mind?” Kelsey questioned. She closed the book and looked at her friend.
“No, not at the moment, do you have someone in mind?”
“Well…yes…I do…”
“Ooh…well who’s the lucky boy?”
“He…he’s new…” Kelsey explained. She turned from normal to bright red.
“New here? You mean new to the school?” Mil asked. Now she was interested.
“Yes and he’s also new here…he’s from Sweden …” Kelsey explained. She got up from the sofa and began to walk to her room.
“Hey! Kelsey! I’m not finish questioning you yet! Come back here! What’s his name?” Mil called. Too late, Kelsey closed her room door. Mil shook her head and decided to watch television again.
Later the main door was opened again to reveal an older woman. She was around 20 to 30 years of age. She held a lot of valentine cards and flowers…also boxes of candies. Mil watched as Amanda dropped everything on a nearby sofa.
“It was tiring to hold all these back home,” Amanda said with a shrug. Mil looked at the things Amanda held before.
“Wow, Amanda, you’re so lucky you get so many things every Valentine’s day…lucky you!” Mil said. “Can I see read the cards?”
“Sure, go ahead,” Amanda said as she started to place the flowers around the living room.
“Okay…let’s see this one…”-opens a rosy card up first-“It said…dear Amanda…I hope you’ll like the roses I gave you…they remind me of you, that’s why I bought it…hope you’ll like it….Sam. Okay…that’s nice…I guess. So…do you like the guy?” Mil questioned. She closed the card up and took another one up.
“He’s okay, I guess. I don’t know,” Amanda said with a sigh.
“Hmm…well, he seems okay to me…what about this one?”-Opens another card up-“Amanda, roses are red, violets are blue, will you go on a date with me? Sheesh, that doesn’t rhyme…, who’s this from? Arnold …” Mil made a face.
“I might want to go out with him.”
“Him? Are you crazy? He sounds like a pimp, don’t go with him, I think Sam is better,” Mil objected.
“You won’t understand, Mil, you’re too young,” Amanda giggled. She finished decorating the house and looked at the books Kelsey left before.
“Mil? You got these books?” Amanda asked. She picked one up and flipped through the pages.
“Nope, Kelsey bought them; she’s in love, Amanda! With some new kid from Sweden !”
“Ooh, really? That’s rare; you girls hardly ever fall in love, so who is the guy?”
“Who knows, she didn’t tell me his name. He’s probably going to attend our school so I’ll find out sooner or later, anyway,” Mil smirked.
“Ooh, goody, I’d like to meet him myself someday. Heh, oh yeah, you’re a senior, huh?”
“Yeah, it’s cool, I guess. I still don’t know what college to attend next year.”
“That’s not the point, though, that is important too. You do know that this year, you’ll have a prom, right?”
“Yes, I do. I don’t really care, it’s not like I’ll be prom queen or something.”
That made Amanda smile. “Yes…I want you to become prom queen.”
“Like, yeah, right I’ll become one,” Mil laughed. She took another sip of her soda.
“I can make you one.”
“Oh, right, like it’ll ever work, plus I need a date!”
“Mil, listen to me, you have to become prom queen. I need you to. I can’t let another person win the title but you…or Kelsey. I’ve been prom queen when I was in 12th grade,” Amanda spoke. She had a really serious voice when she said that.
“Okay…why do you want us to become it?” Mil questioned.
“Because you girls are my friends, need I say more? Don’t let the cheap cheerleaders beat you at that! Plus, I know you want to become prom queen,” Amanda grinned. She got up from the sofa and began to make her way to her room.
“Hey, wait, Amanda! I…I kinda do want to become prom queen….” Mil admitted.
“Okay, good, then let’s start the plan!”
