Loneliness Keeps Me Company

A new town.

I walk down the street.

It is busy and many people brush past me—

     no one looks.

I feel Loneliness touch my face. I feel a chill.

 A new school.

I sit at a table by myself. I am the first there.

Many others come in soon, but they have others to sit by—

     no one talks.

I feel Loneliness take my hand. I feel cool.

A new day.

I walk into the house with my brother and sister.

Dad asks them how their day went—

   no one cares.

I feel Loneliness embrace me. I feel cold.

A new life.

I sit in the bathtub.

The knife gently sips my blood, then suddenly greedy, it drinks it all—

   no one sees.

I do not feel Loneliness anymore. I feel nothing.
