Beneath a Traitor's Moon
by Cora Windover

based on the Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling

*~*~*~*

Sometimes the pain seems far away
And then you face the dying day
Now everything has gone astray

Beneath the moon, your sorrow calls
You've lived through half a hundred falls
But nothing's like this song at all

And he who has two hearts is twice as strong
He who knows the tune can play along
He who has the dreams can tell, but often it's too soon
Sometimes the greatest danger lurks beneath a traitor's moon

The weight of glass is in your hands
It shatters under false demands
From anger at your native lands

These screaming, fighting worlds are weak
While others waste their years in speak
It's hard to see a future bleak

He who hears the whispers makes the call
He who learns to love must learn to fall
He who has the dreams can tell, but what if it's too soon?
Sometimes the greatest danger lurks beneath a traitor's moon

The arrow shaft must fly so true
To see our faith restored anew
Can no one see the change of hue?

The tears must fall, the tears must fall
If ever you will love at all
But first, you have to learn to crawl

He who prays to Aura, "bring me light"
Is he that finds a candle in the night
He who has the dreams ignores the coming of his doom
Sometimes the greatest danger lurks beneath a traitor's moon

The puzzle begs you to forgive
But nothing seems to want to give
Sometimes you have to die to live

And suddenly, you realize
That after half a thousand lies
You finally want to be alive

And he who has two hearts is twice as strong
He who knows the song can sing along
He who has the dreams wakes up, and finally he can see
Sometimes a traitor's moon can grant the longing to be free.

I also have an "Othello" version, if anyone wants to know, send me an e-mail or just say so in a review or something.

Hint: Review.
