War

The battle is waged,
Blood is shed.
No one will win,
Everyone shall lose.

War may win us countries,
But it can never win us peace.
What are we trying to accomplish?
Does killing achieve anything?

Sometimes I feel like no one cares that lives are being lost,
Everyone's absorbed in the heat of battle.
Friends and enemies, both will be lost,
Aren't our enemies human too?

People say "we're fighting for a noble cause,"
But there is no cause greater than living.
Wars take away life, humanity, and innocence,
We lose much more than we could ever gain.

Wars aren't fought for good reasons,
They're only fought for hatred and greed.
Why can't people solve their problems with words instead of actions?
Why must people die in the name of peace?

Peace will never come to this world until war ceases to exsist,
Peace means no more fighting.
Blood should not be shed in the name of freedom or justice,
Crimson is not the color of peace.

The ground is soaked in blood,
Bodies lay scattered on the crimson ground.
Only one remains alive,
He realizes no one won.

I know it's graphic but so is war...live with it. This poem is just a reflection of how stupid I think wars are...they're pointless and the people who participate in them aren't even sure why they're fighting. ~Frozen Midnight~
