Moonlit Night’s Torture
One moonlit night
I sat and admired
the full moon’s silver glistening
on the shining lake.
How happy and carefree was I!
How cold and bitter that night
now seems—though then it was
most pleasant—when now I sit
and reflect upon what dread event
that fateful moonlit night occurred.
I sit and watch the full moon’s
silver glistening on the lake.
A mournful cry escapes my throat—
alas! Tis a wolf’s howl, wishing naught but
to escape another moonlit night’s torture.
