Fear

The hum of the street lamp,

Leaves rustle behind…

And shadows then merge and form shapes in the night...

A quickening pulse,

More footsteps follow…

Trying only to reach the next safe pool of light…

The hunter and hunted,

Away from all eyes…

The stalker now has the said victim in sight…

A sharp piercing scream,

Yet no one to hear…

And this is the end of the terrified flight…
