From life to death to life again
Again it ends and begins the same
From seed to root to shoot, remains
The pattern, the wheel our lives contain.
From womb we progress to fire
In crib after birth, after death the pyre
Fate drowns all hopes, all dreams, desire,
Come down the bush, the bird, the brier.
Yet from the ashes the soul will leap
Leaving the sorrow for the living to keep
Leaving mortal bodies to wail and weep
Come now to new life or eternal sleep.
From the old harvest the seed is sown
From the old life the new is grown
So turn the seasons each year has known
The promise of life the Goddess has shown.
