The Mirror
by Cora Windover

*~*~*~*

Here I am again
In the mirror of your soul
A ghost of a reflection
In a shadow of your home

Drifting aimlessly beside you
Bearing endless scores of pain
Never dreaming of myself
As I shield you from the rain

And they say I could do better
Than to be your perfect maid
And they say I'm nothing better
Than a bowing, scraping, slave

But here I am again
In the mirror of your life
Just a figment in the background
Just a shadow, just your wife

And they don't see the flowers
Placed beside the candle's light
And they don't see the loving kiss
You give me every night

And they don't see that all I want
Is only to be loved
And I will give you everything
And be your fragile dove

So here we are again
In the mirror of your home
As you smile at your shadow -
Know you'll never be alone.

*~*~*~*

That's better... a bit happier! I actually thought it was going to turn out depressing, but I guess I miss my b/f too much... he's away for All State Choir.
