A/N: It took me 29 poems to get to this one (hence the title). I had to
write a lyrical poem for English, and this is my final product. I worked
hard on it. Enjoy and please review.

"Untitled #29"
By: Midnight

In class, I'm asked
What do you want to be?
Where are you going?
When I can't answer,
She answers for me.
A writer,
She tells me.
A writer,
They say.
That's what you are,
That's what you're meant to be
I lay in my bed
At night
Ponder the truths of tomorrow.
A terrible maze
Twisting, winding, with no real
Exit,
Just dead-ends and false promises
I can't find my way
Through this terrifying thing called
Future,
Through this thick forest
Of a thousand questions
My head buzzes,
There's a ringing in my ears,
And I don't want to think about anything
It always has the same nowhere-ending
Anyway.
One thousand passions
Ten thousand ideas
One hundred thousand futures
One lifetime
One girl
Only one chance.
I am overwhelmed
Overloaded
Overworked.
Eyes droop with increasing fatigue,
Mind sags with enough thoughts to fill the sky
Supersaturated with hopes
Fears
Wants
Needs
Confusion
Confusion
Confusion
Emotions a teenager can't begin to describe.
And I'm scared,
So scared
Of what will become of me
Will I turn out the way
I planned?
Will I survive out on my own?
I don't know who I am now,
How can you expect me to fend for
Myself tomorrow?
I won't make it,
Won't ever make it.
Doubt seizes me
Shakes me
Rattles me
Throws me down
Leaves me with no faith at all,
Without strength to get up.
My future looks bleak
Tomorrow seems
Hopeless
I'm afraid,
So afraid
But can you blame me?
And I'm back in my bed
Alone,
A tiny kid in a huge world
And all I can do is take my pen,
Drag black across white,
Make one million question marks
On this page,
And pray.
