Chapter 17
"He's lost a lot of blood. I can't find any of it though. We need
something to rip this door off." Noah felt cold water and his body being
pulled in several directions. He tried to open his eyes, but he couldn't
find the strength. He heard sirens and an odd chopping sound before he
passed out.
"Doctor Murphy to floor nine room 9-102 please." The sounds of
beeping slowly came to Noah. They sounded as though they were amplified a
thousand times. Noah reached out to shut them off and found he couldn't
move. He opened his eyes to the white walls of a hospital. He found needles
in his left arm and his right arm in a cast. His chest ached with every
breath.
"Weren't sure you were going to wake up?" Noah turned to see Jane
curled up in one of the chairs. Her knees were pressed to her chest and she
clung to her legs. He had never seen her without makeup, and her violet
hair was fading to its original blond color. She looked like she'd been
crying. "How are you feeling?"
Noah swallowed the dust in his throat. "Like I just got out of a
nightmare." Jane nodded. Her knuckles were white. Noah tried to think of
something good to say. "I missed you." He instantly regretted it as she
burst into tears.
"Noah you were gone for a year and a half? What happened?" She asked
sobbing. Noah closed his eyes remembering everything. Then he wondered what
everyone would think if he told them.
"I was living departed." He finally answered. "Yeah.that's it."
