'What's Love?'
Lona thinks she's alone in the world. But, when Mark comes back into her
life how will she take it?
*****************************************
She was alone in the world now. 'He's gone.' she kept thinking, "He left me
and he's never coming back!"
She was sitting at the base of an oak tree in the Quad in Juxta. She was
pondering over the few patrons she saw in the bazaar. Then she jumped,
feeling something with fur come and sit down beside her. She stood and
looked at the male tiger,
"Who are you?" she asked, the male feline turned into his human form.
"It's me Lona, Mark." The young male said.
"Go away! Can't you just leave me in peace? It's bad enough you haunt my
dreams, now I'm starting to see you when I'm awake too?!"
Lona walked to the other side of the tree, shaking her head as she leaned
up against the tree, thinking, 'He's not real.'
Mark and Lona were the best of friends when they were younger; they even
aged together when they were no older than five. When they became teenagers
they started to get feelings for one another, Lona wouldn't admit it, but
Mark knew he had found love, then Lona and Mark started to argue, Lona
blamed herself for why Mark left her life.
Mark walked around the oak to face Lona, "I am real." Lona closed her eyes
and shook her head, "Nay, you're not real." Lona replied.
Mark sighed, "What can I do to prove that I'm real?" Lona just shrugged.
Mark thought on this and then placed an index finger under her chin; she
had to look into his eyes then.
Mark bent down and pressed his lips to hers; she responded by snaking her
arms around his neck, kissing him back she thought, 'Better enjoy this
before the dream leaves again.'
They separated and Lona looked up at him, "You're not real, you left me."
"Lona, I just proved to you I'm real, I'm real!"
"No. You. Are. Not!" Lona said.
Lona had worried about Mark since he left. She blamed herself and all she
did was scry for him when she wasn't busy. The night before she had gave in
and let him go, and now he's back?
"You're not real." She said, mainly to herself. "Yes I am, Lona. What can I
do to prove that I am real, again?!" Mark asked. Lona shrugged once again,
"I don't know." He leaned down and kissed her quickly again.
"Lona, I love you."
"No you don't. You're so young; you don't know what love is, Mark."
"Yes, I do. It's when you think about that person all the time; you want to
be with them day in and day out. And, when you are with them, they are all
you see."
She knew then he was real and that he really did love her. She also knew
that she secretly loved him and she wouldn't admit it.
Lona smiled, tears streaming down her face. She looked into Mark's eyes and
saw the love he felt for her.
She leaned up and hugged him, wrapping her arms around his neck again; she
then whispered in his ear somewhat dreamily, "You are real." Mark grinned
and hugged Lona tightly.
Mark leaned down and kissed her again. Lona purred and kissed back, then
pulled away suddenly, "We are in a busy bazaar, Mark."
"I don't care. I want you." Mark said, smiling down at the small teenager.
"How about I show you to Anna and Charm?" Lona said, Mark agreed and the
couple faded out.
