I am the lady and lover of nations;
I am the queen of the hyaline throne,
The slightest and most fragile of creations.
But my grip on my seat is like stone.
I am Freedom, whom all yearn for and know of.
Though at times a nation might take another love,
Though Dictatorship might for a while be king,
Or Aristocracy be not far away,
They shall not challenge my hair's and hips' swing;
They shall not challenge my ultimate sway.
My people love me as they love air;
When the first human soul was born, I was there,
Satiating with rare delicacies each heart,
In ways that no air or food ever could.
I am the Patroness and Lady of Art,
And under me each heart dreams, as it should,
Of delicate flowers and incarnate beauty.
Without me, they would, I fear, dream of duty.
And am I owed a duty? Of course!
Randomness, chaos and caprice and chance,
And physical violence, and physical force,
Should be kept in balance with what I need for my dance:
Peace, calm, beauty, and most furious Art,
That can shatter a soul, and rebuild a heart.
Lady am I and lover of nations,
Monarch I am of the hyaline throne.
I know humanity in all its incarnations;
I am Freedom, who takes their soul for her own!
I am Freedom, whom all shall know of-
The only fair mistress, the only true love.
