Prelude et Prologue

Sitting high, up atop a grassy green hill which over looks the St. Day Lou Bridge there stands an old, granite statue of a young woman. The figure is well known around these parts and is even known as far out as the edges of Monaco County, bringing people far and wide to see it. One must understand, this particular statue is very unlike any other and the creator was rumored to have the uncanny ability to completely capture the essence of life in his work. Now, the sculpture in question has been formed in the image of a young woman, hair flung out behind her, arms thrust forward, the motion that is visible by looking at the seemingly lifeless granite is eerie. There is an almost supernatural feel to it, as if the woman had been plucked out of life and thrust into the stone itself.
