idyllic delusions

prancing with the unicorns of purest grace
and beauty, dancing in the night,
saturated by vibrant light
emanating from the moon’s smiling face,
luminous rays poured forth in streams,
shadows entwined with silver beams
wrap me in the night’s protective embrace.

flying with the majestic dragons at dawn,
with wings outstretched in the skies,
as the spreading sun rays rise,
free and in control, all my troubles gone,
soaked in dazzling colors, a flood
of light and warmth to my blood,
ever prevailing hope to strive upon.

but the sky is ablaze with arrows to slay
the dragons...piercing cries of pain...
i fall, an orb of crimson rain,
as the sky turns to smoky, stormy gray,
and the impact will shatter me.
i hit cold earth, reality,
worn out already by the start of day.
