Exist

Write me a fairytale, would you?
Be my knight in shining armor tonight.
Tell me that my eyes are the brightest,
that my laughter can cure the worst ailments.

Sing me a song, would you?
Be my poet strumming a guitar.
Tell me that I'm your fragile muse,
that my smile could paint a thousand pictures.

Write me out of the pain, would you?
Be my hero if for only a fleeting moment.
Tell me that the anguish will fast disappear,
that I'll worry no longer, simplicity a friend.

Hold me tight now, would you?
Be my strength when I can't say the words.
Tell me that I'll make it on my own,
that I need nothing more than myself.

Walk away with a smile, would you?
Reassure me that I'll dream it all tonight.
Reassure me that I'm better than this,
that I don't need you for me to exist.
