She cried a thousand tears while no one was watching. It was much easier that way.
There was no one to ask a question, no one to criticize an opinion of the simple. She was far too plain and easy to please as a child, and now she was far too extravagant and difficult to manage. Conversation only came when her condescending nature faded away, and a rarity that was.
The past five years had blackened her heart, turned her away from the pretty things. Flowers and snowflakes did nothing for her senses. She reveled now in the scent of the rain, the power of the thunder, mystique of the lightning. She convinced herself that she needed not a single soul, a detrimental lie in the cycle of her life.
Direction was lost. Faith had nearly been erased, and she'd scribble endlessly in her worn down notebook. Her emerald green eyes would pause and move, only to catch random shadows that the night created. She was content in her alone, surface painted perfect without any worry or regret. She never lead on that she craved attention, missed affections that only certain lights could bring.
She cried a thousand tears while no one was watching. It was much easier that way. Painful to live with a blackened heart, without anyone trying to breathe color back into a salted world...but at least no one had known.
A thousand tears were allowed and never rejected in solitude.
