HELL-BOUND AND HEAVEN-SENT
-BY: LIRA-CHAN-
-NOTE:- This is my story for nanowrimo. I intended on posting it elsewhere, finishing it, and THEN uploading it all at once to fictionpress. Obviously, I've changed my mind. Therefore... While this "prelude" is an introduction of sorts, I'm less than fond of it, and may remove it later. You are now free to read on, if you so desire.
Oh, I guess I should mention that this -is- going to be slashy. Eventually. So steer clear if such things disturb your delicate sensibilities.
~PRELUDE~
In the world known to the humans inhabiting it as Earth, there are many stories and much mythology regarding the creation of the planet. The existence of a supreme being, a God, is detailed, and His angels are added to the picture of Heaven. But the description goes on, to include the Fallen One... Lucifer... Satan. From that point on, the humans of Earth had their work cut out for them, regarding temptation and sin. Sin began with the taste of an apple. Temptation began with the Evil. But in another time, another world entirely, such things were not yet even trivial concerns. In such a fanciful place, not Earth, but a planet by the name of Hetahr, no supreme being took hold of the destiny of the planet, no divine hand began its working on the land, no sculpture of the terrain took place at all. Hetahr was left to fend for itself entirely.
Left free of ties and restrictions, the fresh playing-field of new earth and clear waters did not stagnate; on its own, life was brought forth, and the creatures rising up were not unlike the humans of Earth... Yet they were not exactly like the humans, either. Instead of one, two breeds of humanoid life forms were spawned. The first looked to be a delicate sort; pale and sickly looking, with strange blue orbs to see with and mysterious ashen fibers sprouting from their round tops, from their heads... Hair. The second sort looked much hardier; where the first was gossamer and lace, the second were bold as brass and hard as diamonds. They possessed burnished, coppery skin, and the same flowing hairs, only in browns, and oranges, and reds. Their eyes were earthy; shades of brown, for the most part, with a smattering of green thrown in for variation. The two types of peoples were as different as night and day, and knew it. Not only were their appearances different, but their thoughts, as well. The one thing they had in common... Was magic.
Somehow, the fragile, beautiful ones got it into their heads that they were superior to the hardy, more earthy second people. They formed something that they called a religion, and formed a language with which to speak of this new religion. Language took on a written form, and soon religion books were being produced. With their superior language and impressive religious books, the delicate ones formatted ideas- dangerous ideas. They looked down their noses at the other people, and created a word in their language, for what the fair ones were- holy. They needed to come up with another word, to describe their people as a whole, and so they became angels. Through logic and deduction, their language and their religion made the second people unholy. They would have to create a word in their language to describe that kind of people as a whole. And so the fiery, earthy, spirited second people became demons.
However, that was not enough for the haughty angels. They could not merely denounce the demons as unholy, as evil. They had to prove it in their religious texts, their holy books, their scriptures. And then, even then, they would not be done. Still they would need to form a defense against the evil demons, some sort of system to keep them out of the ranks of the angels for good. In doing this, they would need to create another new word, add another, additional term to their language. The system they created, with a single, powerful leader, they called a government. The leader they named King, and their government in particular was dubbed a monarchy.
Meanwhile, the demons, the hardy, fiery people of the earth, were exploring the land they had been given to live in. They, too, ended up creating a language, but for different reasons than those the angels used to justify their actions. Already, interesting things were happening regarding the demons. They needed a language to record these things, to remember this history. With their current events and histories to occupy them, the demons never discovered religion. They did, however, realize that they needed to organize their group. They needed a system to regulate things in their community, to keep track of births, deaths- comings and goings. They needed a... Government.
However, this, too, was designed for reasons other than the reasons the angels employed in validating the implementation of a government system. Unlike the angels, the demons didn't want all of the power in their system to lie with one person. Instead, they wanted their government to include many powerful people, who would be able to keep their fellows in check and balance things out. They called this group of powerful people their council, and in doing so, created the first and earliest democracy. They even came up with a voting system, for choosing a new council person when a member of the council grew old, and either retired or passed away.
The angels stood by and observed these things; their powerful, holy King leading the watch, and his advisors following his lead. History? Democracy? What were these things the demon-kind were poking their noses into? After further examination, the angels redefined the words, and included them in their own language. But history and democracy could be dangerous things... With such knowledge, the demons could become a threat to the angels and their holy King. And the demons didn't believe in religion! They were the worst kind of evil. The angels would have to correct the demons' flawed ways, even if it meant erasing their histories and disbanding their flawed democracy. Even if it meant death to demon-kind.
However, the demons would not just sit idly by as history came knocking, personally, upon their collective door. They would not be persecuted, but they could not stand and fight; they would flee. Persecuted. That, too, was a new word. In both languages. However, not all things went according to plan, as the demon-kind fled from positions closest to the angels, trying to pass right under the angels' noses. Many died, "persecuted." Many more fled, and went into hiding. But a few, a scant few, shared too many, if not all, of the angels' beliefs. These "renegade demons" would be hunted down, of course, but not all would be killed. A few, albeit only a few, angels saw eye-to-eye with these demons. Together, each understood the mind and soul of the other, and they would refuse to part, regardless of "persecution."
In the end, only two such remained; the angels had completed their religious crusade, forcing the demons into the dark, lest they be murdered outright. The two remaining, freethinking angel and demon lovers fled at the last, escaping the insane angel "persecutors" and "judges," but avoiding the dark, where most of the demon-kind then hid. The demoness, the female, was a pretty little thing. Even with her obsession with history-keeping taken into regard, her name would be forgotten throughout the ages. The angel, the male, however, would be remembered.
He and the demoness had a son. Then a daughter. The angel's name was... Lucifer.
-NOTE:- So... Tell me what you think, feel free to read on, whatever. *prods the prelude* I may get rid of this yet.
