What did I do to deserve this punishment?

I paid my penance, forgot you existed

I buried the past myself, deep underground

Yet here you are, carrying your own shovel

Wishing I could get inside your head

Wondering what the hell you’re thinking

I’m not yours anymore, was I ever?

You already said no, months before

I haven’t been waiting, I never wanted this

Said my goodbyes, supposedly over

You seem ashamed, realisation hitting you

You made a mistake, then and now

I don’t want you anymore, you let me go

And now I can run free, unbound, wild

You, still caged by someone new

Not my problem, not my fault

Close the door, wave goodbye

Hand in your key at the desk

Hope you enjoyed your stay

Don’t come again
