Running through the rooms,
I look for where you are.
I open all the doors,
And keep looking.
I see a light on up ahead,
In a doorway to the right.
Running there I see you,
Lie sleeping, illuminated by the morning sun.
I call your name softly,
Choking on the tears,
For fear that when you eyes open,
You will just want me gone.
I call your name once more,
And you eyes flutter open.
Seeing me you look surprised,
But smile.
You say my name,
And I sit down beside you,
Not believing, not believing,
I'm this close to you again.
You ask me the normal questions,
And while I sit and answer,
All the hurt and anger,
Simply disappear.
Sitting up,
You listen better,
Pay attention to my words.
Looking at me now you wonder why things went the way they did.
I'm trying to be calm,
But with you I am so happy.
Just to see your smiling face again,
Makes me get excited.
As I'm talking,
You are smiling,
You lean closer in and say,
"Just keep talking."
My eyes widen at the words,
And my heart skips a beat.
I know that tone, I know that look,
I remember the old days.
I remember when you used to say,
Such things to me a lot.
Precursors to your kisses,
Which I never have forgot.
I kiss you without hesitation,
And you jump a little at first.
It's be so long, it's been so hard,
Suddenly it's not.
Your arms find their way around me,
To their old and welcoming home.
My tears roll down your cheeks,
And yours roll down mine.
I'd never been so happy,
As in that very moment.
When two hearts came back together,
Never again to be untwined.
