Wasteland

Second star to the

Right & straight on

Till morning

That's how it read

As a child

Now here

I float in endless

Blackness naught

Twinkling to my

Eye just eternal

Silence with

Sound of my own

Breath as company

Flowing until It

Inevitably will stop

How magnificent

It sounded learning

Of infiniteness

To space yet here

I ponder life

Knowing shortly I

Will be in a casket

Far bigger than

My frame

Fear is gone now

It took several

Minutes to grasp

That panic would

Bring demise to

My being more

Quickly than

Required

Savouring my last

Weightless moments

In this ebony

Womb I see petering

Out oxygen

& know my hour

Is nigh in time

Left I think of

The vastness of

My tomb

How small I am

In this wasteland

How empty isolating

And lonely

Till I can no

Longer think

Anything at all
