For Argument’s Sake

For argument’s sake, let’s pretend that we

In toe-headed rootwads believe.

We’d prod and probe this whimsical thing

To see what we can achieve.

These scientists of ours, who claim to know much,

Would analyze from head to toe

This toe-headed wad of a root of a tree

And still, oh yes, care for it so.

And next this figment of our curious minds

Would be dumped or stored in a box.

How those animal activists would be up in a storm,

But no, they won’t get past our locks!

Would this reaction, this outcome occur

Or would a different direction it take

If we in toe-headed rootwads believed?

But who cares?  It’s just for argument’s sake.
