Prologue
And in she walked. Her hair a long golden brown, and a long slim
body. His attention was directly detoured to her sight. He put his
documents down and approached the desk and she put her hair behind her
ears. He found her very attractive.
"Can I help you miss?", he began.
"Um..yes.yes, you can...", she hesitated. Her stuttering made him
realize that something was wrong. "I need to talk to a police officer...",
she said embarrassed.
"Alright, then. Follow me..", he began. He lead her to a small 5"x8"
room. He pulled out a chair and sat down. She fixed her hair, and slacked
down in her chair.
"Alright, then, I'm Detective Michael Reilly. I want your name, age,
ethnicity, number, address, and your description of the situation.", he
explained.
She swallowed hard, and tried to hold back the tears. "Jessica
Gonzalez, Hispanic, 16..", she began. Next, she told him her number, and
address. Now the tears came down and she started to shake.
"Ms Gonzalez.. take it slow.", Reilly said. "I know this is hard."
Reilly felt an urge to go over and kiss her, but she was only 16, a
minor...he was 26.
"I...I.was raped.", she said. Reilly tried not to show any emotion
but wrote it down on his report sheet.
"Alright...do you know your attacker?", he asked.
"My ex-boyfriend....Julio Perez. He lives on the East side.", she
replied.
"Well, Ms Gonzalez, we're going to look this guy up, and hopefully
get a warrant for his arrest. We're going to keep you overnight in the
hospital, check you for STD's and what not.", he said. She buried her head
in her hands. She started praying in Spanish.
"If there is anything I can do..", Reilly began.
"Hold me!", she yelled. He walked over and hugged her tight. She
cried for many minutes and he waked her to an ambulance. She screamed for
him to accompany her. "Come with me, Detective Reilly!", she yelled.
"You better not stay here. She might have a cow.", joked another
detective. Reilly just smiled and hopped into the ambulance. On their way
into the ER, Reilly fooled the doctors and told them he was her husband.
The doctors completed her tests, and confirmed that she had no STD's, but
the pregnancy test would take a little more time to complete.
Later that night, Jessica thanked Det. Reilly. "That was really sweet
of you, to come with me."
"Don't worry about it.", he said.
"Go home and get some sleep.", she said.
"Bye Jessica."
