I have journeyed far
On unmarked paths
Not knowing where I head
Certain only that I
Will stop only for happiness.
I have journeyed far
On unmarked paths
Through dark damp forests,
And searing scalding deserts,
Over muddy murky swamps,
And high hard mountains.
The voices of those
Who have hurt me
Fill my head
Forcing me into despair
Trapping me in this cycle.
I am lost
And I know not
Where to stop.
These roads seem
All too familiar.
The same trees and piles of sand.
The same muddy holes and sharp rocks.
The same voices of my past
Clouding my path to happiness.
I almost missed the new face
Among the old
The soft voice among the quiet.
But I did not
I heard your voice
And saw your face
I felt the tether that
Ties our souls
And I loved you there.
You were my savior
To find your love
Amidst the hate and hurt
That swirled around me
Was the greatest of treasures.
I shall take care to protect you
For should I lose you
I will dissipate into the haze
That was my life.
You came when I needed
You most.
You shore me up
Lest I fall.
You hold my hand.
You hold my heart.
You are my soul,
My savior soul.
