Warning: explicit sexual material between two consenting adults
I’ve had inspiration and I might take this story in a whole new direction. I wrote the ending first and I think I’m going to rewrite it… I’ll let you know when we come to the original ending.
Cassandra rested her head against his shoulder as he lay on his back and wrapped his arm around her waist. She’d never felt so completely safe as she did at that moment, in Jared’s arms. His body was strong enough to take her life in a moment but instead he used it all to make her feel like she never had before.
Jared felt himself slipping into a peaceful and untroubled sleep for the first time since Trisha died. As his breathing evened out, Cassandra pressed her lips to his chest.
“I love you.”
The next morning Jared woke up and felt a light weight on his chest. He glanced down and smiled softly as the sight of Cassandra’s dark hair greeted him. Pressing his lips to her forehead he ran his hand down her arm. The surprising events from the night before flooded his memory and his eyes widened.
‘I slept with her,’ he thought incredulously and swallowed hard. It was amazing but would she hate him when she woke up? Everything had happened so fast. But she had looked so amazingly beautiful with her hair loose around her face; her small, rounded breasts begging to be touched and her cherubic mouth that he couldn’t stop kissing. In his mind’s eye she remained with him and her bruises faded so she could finally be whole.
He studied her again. Her left breast pressed against his side and he could see the massive bruise just below it. Pulling up the blanket, he covered her, knowing she would feel embarrassed if she caught him studying her. Also, if he looked at the bruise any longer, he wouldn’t be able to keep himself from wringing her father’s neck.
“Jared?”
Her quiet voice broke his reverie and he smiled down at her. “Good morning, Cassie,” he said, leaning down to kiss her.
“Mmm,” she murmured and reached up to touch his cheek. “We made love last night.”
Jared was surprised by her nonchalance. “You’re okay? You don’t regret it?” he asked hesitantly.
“I regret more things than I can remember. But not being with you,” she whispered, kissing him. “Last night was the first time I can remember someone bestowing kindness upon my body.”
Jared smiled and sat up, placing his arm on the side of her head so he could hover over her. “I am going to protect you, Cassie,” he whispered, staring down at her body, the bruises, the cuts.
For the first time that morning she frowned and shook her head. “Jared,” she said, putting her hand on his chest. “I appreciate everything and I want to be with you…but I can’t if you’re going to risk your life.”
“I’ll be safe. We’ll call the police. He’ll be thrown in jail and my mom will find you a home,” Jared assured her and she shook her head.
“No!” her arms covered her chest and she squeezed her eyes shut. “It’s too dangerous. It was a bad idea to come here. I’m endangering you just being here.”
“Cassie, shh,” Jared said, stilling her with a kiss. “My mom would never have let you in if she thought you wouldn’t be safe here.”
She relaxed beneath his gentle touch and a tear coursed down her bruised cheek. “Why are you being so nice to me? I’m no one. I’m not popular or beautiful. Why would you waste a night on me?”
Jared shook his head. “Because you’re wonderful, Cassie. You’re my anchor. You’ve been here for me during the most difficult time of my life. And to me you are beautiful and I don’t care if you’re popular or not. There is no better way for me to spend a night than to be with you.”
Her lower lip quivered as she struggled not to cry. “I want this, Jared,” she whispered almost inaudibly. “I want this so badly I would die for it. It’s too good to be true. Last night…what I felt…it’s too good. I’m going to wake up and you’ll be gone; your mom won’t be bringing us dinner or calling me ‘dear’.”
“No, you’ll have it,” Jared said, laying down beside her and turning her to face him. They were nearly nose to nose. “Let me help you, baby.” He reached out to caress her cheek.
“I don’t know how…” She rolled onto her back and stared at the ceiling. “I’ve been on my own my whole life. Not even Randy has really been able to help. This is so strange.”
Jared put his arm across her chest, covering her and lacing his fingers through hers. “But you like it.”
“I do.” She couldn’t look at him. “Jared…”
“Ya?”
“Last night…was it…bad?” Cassandra didn’t know what was bad and what was good or if he faked to make her feel better.
Jared tipped his head back and laughed. “Are you crazy? It was awesome. If I was that kind of guy, I would tell everyone I got laid by the most amazing lover,” he teased her and she giggled.
“I enjoyed it as well…and I appreciate the precautions you took as well,” she said, indicating the trashcan where the used condom lay.
Jared kissed her. “You’re cute,” he said and checked the clock. “I don’t want to get up. I haven’t slept like that in a long time and I want to revel in the wonder of a good night’s sleep and the really great sex.”
Cassandra laughed heartily. “So don’t get up. It’s Saturday,” she said, rising and opening a drawer. She peeked over her shoulder and saw him staring at her.
“Even with those bruises you are so…” he trailed off and licked his lips, making her laugh.
“Stop embarrassing me,” she said and rummage through the drawer until she found a box and tossed it on the bed.
“What are you doin’?” he asked, picking up the box and his jaw dropped. “Um…I thought that you…”
“You don’t?”
Jared stared at her. “I just thought you’d want to move slower,” he stuttered as she walked back to the bed and crawled beneath the covers, still girlishly innocent.
“Emotionally…yes,” she agreed and ran her hands down his chest. “But my whole life has been dictated by the physical.”
Jared pulled her against him and she could feel his agreement to her desire. “I just…its fast,” he protested more weakly. “Aw hell.” He dipped down to kiss her heatedly and she hooked her leg over his hip.
“Show me,” she whispered. “Show me how to please you. I want to give you what you gave me.” Her large almost eyes stared at him plaintively. He could see how seriously she took this.
Jared grinned. “You are the kindest soul I’ve ever met,” he said before nodding with a smirk. “A guy can’t say no to that.”
Cassandra took to her lessons whole heartedly, loving the fact that she gave him pleasure, and Jared threw a pillow over his face to muffle the noise he made.
“Oh God,” he cried and his fingers buried deeply into her hair before he pulled her up by the arms, kissing her deeply. “I need you…now. Please.”
Cassandra grinned, feeling, for the first time, free. Free to be herself. Free to act without negative consequence. She grabbed a condom and slid it on, never breaking eye contact and she could feel Jared’s reaction in the air.
This time she needed no guidance and as Jared’s gentle hands caressed her body, Cassandra smiled. Suddenly, Jared sat up, wrapping his arms around her and staring down at her.
“You’re a good student,” he teased her as she raked her nails down his back.
“I like to learn,” she replied, tipping her head back so he could line her jaw with sweet kisses. As he dipped down and gently bit a nipple, Cassandra’s breaths came in short pants. Her hands ran over his muscular chest, needing to touch all of him as their pace quickened with need.
“Jared…” she breathed and shuddered with her release, leaning her forehead against his shoulder.
Jared rolled her on her back and moved within her, meeting her gaze and she smiled, helping him to enjoy one of his own before he collapsed on top of her.
“I know you weigh a lot more than me, but it feels so good to have your body cover mine…I feel safe,” she breathed after a long moment and she felt Jared press his lips against her shoulder.
“I’m not hurting you?” he asked, unwilling to move.
“No…it’s wonderful,” she said languidly before realizing something. “And I’m comfortable with this because we were so much more before this…pleasurable addition to our relationship.”
Jared chuckled and propped himself up on one elbow. “It can always stop if things get too complicated,” he said, caressing her cheek.
“You’re the guy and you’re proposing that I stop having sex with you? Are you okay?” she asked him and they both laughed.
Outside the door Leah stood with her hand poised to knock on the door and let them know breakfast was in ten minutes. Then she paused when she heard Cassandra’s last statement and swallowed hard. She’d guessed he and Patricia had been together but this was too soon. This poor girl had no idea what she was doing. She was in emotional turmoil.
‘Jared! You know better!’ she thought and stormed downstairs.
“I can also protect you at school now,” Jared said, rolling off of her and staring into her honey eyes.
“I wasn’t that picked on,” she protested and he shook his head.
“No, there will be no picking on you and no one will know we have been together or they will turn that into a nightmare.”
“Ya…but I have to go home. My dad will wonder where I’ve gone after a few days,” she said and he pulled her to him.
“No. I’m going to buy you clothes and set you up in the guest bedroom. Your books are in my car and we probably have anything else you need,” he said and heard pots and pans clanging in the kitchen. The smell of bacon drifted up to them and Cassandra’s stomach growled.
“Can we talk about this after breakfast?” she asked, dodging the issue and hoping he’d forget with the extra time.
“Sure.” He kissed her forehead and grabbed some clothes. “I’m going to grab you some clothes from mom’s room and you can shower in here. I’ll shower in her room.”
Cassandra nodded and climbed into the shower, washing her cares away and reliving her magical time with Jared. Her bruises began to throb beneath the steamy spray and she turned the water colder. As she climbed out, she stared into the mirror and gasped. Half of her body was one large bruise!
‘How can he want me like this?’ she wondered as she stepped into the room and found a pair of sweats and a long-sleeved shirt on the bed along with packaged underwear. She dressed quickly and sat on the bed. She had no make-up to cover her bruises and with Jared in another room, her own strength waned. The free woman who’d made love to Jared last night and this morning was hidden beside the façade of a scared girl who’d been beaten almost every day of her young life.
“Cassie? Breakfast…hey, what’s wrong?” he asked her, coming to kneel before her.
She reached out and ran her fingers through his wet, black hair, ruffling it affectionately. “It’s nothing. Let’s go eat.”
Jared looked at her skeptically but decided to let her words slide, leading her downstairs and approached his mother. “Good morning, mom. Smells great,” he said and Leah nodded curtly.
“There’s some bacon piled on a plate,” she said and Jared furrowed his brows. Cassandra froze. The tension in the air was one she recognized: the electric air that stirred before a fight.
“Mom, what’s wrong?” Jared asked and Leah shook her head.
“Not now, Jared,” she replied, flipping a pancake with a jerky motion and Cassandra stood in the corner of the kitchen.
“What’s wrong?” Jared frowned deeply. His mother usually wasn’t so terse.
“Living room,” Leah barked and Cassandra jumped. Neither noticed as they exited. Cassandra heard the door shut.
“You slept with her,” Leah said, crossing her arms over her chest.
“You were listening?!” Jared demanded incredulously
“No! I was about to knock on your door to announce breakfast when I heard her say that you had. How could you Jared? She is weak and confused and scared and so are you. This was not smart!”
Cassandra slid down the wall in the kitchen trying to keep the tears from pouring down her face. Any moment Leah would hit Jared and he’d bruise. Then she’d come after Cassandra.
“We know what we’re doing! She’s my girlfriend now. It’s been long in coming,” he protested and his blue eyes flashed.
“Sex is not a cure!”
“But its something to share,” Jared retorted lividly, smacking the wall so that the pictures rocked on their hooks. “I talked to her. She let me know. I let her know. We used condoms.”
Leah crossed her arms over her chest. “This is not like you, Jared. This is so irrational.”
“She initiated it this morning! She says she connects better through the physical,” he said and Leah paused.
“Baby, I just don’t want you to get hurt again,” Leah whispered, stepping closer to her son. “Physical intimacy makes it that much more painful. Is this smart?”
“I told her it’s up to her. Mom, she’s helped me to accept Trisha’s death and to accept her role in my life. I’m not replacing Trisha, but allowing Cassie to become another part of my life,” he said plaintively and put his hand on her arm.
“Be careful,” Leah breathed. “And I’m getting her birth control. And I want her entire story tonight. We’re getting her out of that house.” Cassandra’s wide brown eyes, frail form and grasp on her son’s life spurred her on along with her compassion for the young girl’s plight.
Jared swallowed hard. “I don’t know if she’d go for that. She’s barely opened up to be emotionally, mom. Her father is evil.” He shuddered.
“We can help her. Just one step at a time,” Leah said, putting her arm around his shoulder. “I still don’t approve. But for now, let’s go eat.”
When they walked into the kitchen they found Cassandra shaking in a corner with her face buried in her knees.
“Cassandra?” Leah asked worriedly and hurried to her with Jared in her wake. “What’s wrong?”
Cassandra jumped and stared at Leah with wide eyes. “Don’t hurt him. Please, ma’am. Don’t hurt him.”
Leah stared incredulously at the girl but understood the words immediately. “I won’t,” she said slowly. “In this house we don’t discipline with our fists.”
“W-what?”
“I’ve never hit my son in my life. I discipline him with firm rules, respect and non-pain inflicted punishments,” Leah explained and Cassandra stared at her.
“It’s true,” Jared said, kneeling beside his mom. “No one gets hurt in this house. Not me, not you, not mom.”
Leah held out her hand to Cassandra. “You’re welcome in my house, Cassandra. You’re free to stay as long as you like. But I would like to get a little meat on your bones. I made a good breakfast.”
“It smells good,” she agreed as she hesitantly took Leah’s hand.
Soon she was seated at the table beside Jared, polishing off her plate. She was too shy to ask for seconds so Jared just gave it to her. Cassandra smiled thankfully and quickly finished that portion as well.
“What are you two up to today?” Leah asked and Cassandra glanced at Jared.
“We hadn’t decided yet,” he said, meeting his new girlfriend’s gaze. “I was thinking the oceanfront. How’s that sound? Maybe some shopping for clothes and make-up and all sorts of things to make you feel pretty and girly.”
Cassandra giggled and shook her head. “It’s not needed,” she said quietly and Leah watched as the young adults interacted. She knew he was already in love with this girl but the way they acted around each other was familiar.
‘Jake…’ Leah thought, suddenly missing her husband again.
With her son, Cassandra came alive. Her smile captured the attention instead of bruises. Her spirit broke through the wall of protection she threw up against the cruelty of her father.
“Ya, I’d like that,” Cassandra said in her quiet way and Leah smiled.
“The beach?” she asked.
Cassandra nodded shyly. “After I make two calls,” she said. “May I use your phone?”
“Of course. It’s right outside that entrance,” Leah said, pointing to the kitchen door.
As Cassandra left to make her calls, Leah turned to her son.
“One day she will wake up and not feel pain or fear,” Jared said softly.
“One day.”
Hexic: Yup, its her. I had fun writing this ‘cause I didn’t want to make it trashy. People are too afraid these days to write anything so I through that aside and did what I consider tasteful. Haha.
Heather: Yup, quick. But it is a story so I can do what I want! They can hump like bunnies or she can join a nunnery…or…haha j/k. Thanks for reading!
Aidrianna: Aw! I was happy writing it too. Randy said something DIRTY muahahaha. Things do always get worse before they get better. There is one line in here that I personally think gives the psychological situation away. Thanks so much for r/r!
Please r/r you guys! It’ll help me work up inspiration for the next chapter! Which might be a bit in coming ‘cause I have to finish this 8 page paper…ANYWHO. Survive the end of the semester people! Almost over!
