Ch 1
As the devil of the high seas looked out at the passerby boats, a thought flooded through his mind. He knew that he shouldn't be in this little town of Bristol. But he had nowhere else to go.
It was 1717, and Rob McClellan was about fifteen years old. Rob had a sort of blackish brown hair that he liked to part down the middle. He was a rather dirty fellow since it was the 1700's after all. He always dreamed of becoming a pirate. He loved all of the stories he heard and the myths of buried treasure. He would ask his teacher for an encyclopedia so he could scan over the few pages of his hero, Edward Teach, also known as the famous Blackbeard.
He always dreamed of being a first mate or even a cabin boy, either way he would be on Balckbeard's ship. He would run up and down the stairs, terrorize the cook and hang around with Blackbeard. He already knew what he wanted to call his ship when he got it. He wanted to name it 'Queen Anne's revenge II. Rob didn't really have a home life either. His mother died when he was very small and his father was always out on the ocean. He could remember his father telling him "if and when someone falls into the water, it feels like a thousand knives stabbing you in chorus." His dad gave his mother a loving look. He could almost hear his father's voice. Well Rob was now fifteen, and he never got to see what it was like out there. He would never get to feel how the mists in his face and thru his hair.
Rob has been in the foster home ever since his mother had died and he has lost most memory of his life with his mother. He never tried to give any of the families who wanted to adopt him a chance. He belonged out on the black water. He needed the freedom to do whatever he pleased. But no, he was stuck in this rat hole of a place. But wait; there was a chance that he could go out there and chase his dream. His father left him a note that read:
Son, I know what you are thinking.
I'm supposed to take you out to sea at the age of fifteen
I had some unfinished business in America.
So I am leaving this map in your possession.
Don't go trying to find the treasure until you are ready.
Don't ask if you're ready because you'll know.
Love you son, Dad.

Rob didn't even know what his fathers name was or even what he looked like.

"Rob its supper time." said an old raspy voice.
"Coming sister." Rob took one last look at the ocean, hung his head, and then followed sister Mary Jean into the home. The home was rather elegant. It looked like an old church. It had an old steeple on top that was falling apart. The church looked like it was the first one ever built. It was a snowy white color. The church seemed fairly small on the out side, but when people go inside, the church is amazing. There were doors lining the walls leading to the front of the church. The altar was at the front and all of the pews were facing front.
Rob was walking quite slowly because he had the picture of the ocean in his head.
"Come along Rob. What is taking you so long?"
"Coming sister." Sister Mary Jean led Rob into the dining room, which was typically white. The only thing that gave the slightest hint of color was the few paintings on the walls of Jesus and angel's. The long white table, led down the middle of the room. There was a white tablecloth that was made of a doily material, which almost went down to the ground.
He made his way into the dining room and sat in his usual place, at the end of the table by himself. There were a lot of people who wanted to be his friend but they didn't know how to approach him. Since Rob kept to himself, no one knew the real Rob. He was always dreaming about his life on a pirate ship. Never in his wildest dreams, would he anticipate what would happen next.
It started to get real dark outside the church. Rob could almost make out the stars and moon, but the clouds were hazing over them. There was a light wind that only made the leaves on the trees twitch. He was gazing out the window at nothing. All of a sudden, he saw something moving in the distance. It looked like the figure of a man. The only feature he could make out was a sort of old fashioned hat. When Rob saw it, he had the feeling that he had to follow it. *I don't think I should go downstairs; surly someone will be down there wandering the halls. * Rob looked toward the door to see if he could look through it (which was not likely.) *Or I can climb or should I say jump out the window. * Rob thought long and hard about his choices. He loved having adventures, but he didn't like the possibility of death. He still had unfinished business. Even though there were people in the church who didn't even know he existed, Rob knew it wasn't his time yet.
Rob tried his bet at going down the stairs. After all, it wouldn't be his first time sneaking out. Rob tiptoed lightly into the hall. He stopped every few feet to make sure no one saw him. The corridors of the church were very dark, especially at night. Even though he couldn't see anyone, he had the sinister feeling that someone was watching him. It was like he could see himself walking down the corridor. He couldn't knock the feeling. He knew someone was there, watching him, lurking in the shadows.

*Okay, I think I can make it. * Rob walked gingerly toward the door, turned the knob, and walked out. He wasn't sure which was to go since he didn't know which side of the school his bedroom was on. He was looking around trying to find something that looked familiar. Rob tried to remember what had happened prior. The only part that he see completely apparent was the trees that the figure walked between.
Rob started circling the building, trying to see if he could catch a glimpse of the trees or anything that seemed impractical. He stared into the dark, trying to make his eyes adjust. When they finally did, he saw the trees that he had seen before. He remembered that the figure had walked between them; Rob had never been past his ocean viewing spot by the rock. He was a bout to start a new adventure if he walked one step further. Rob walked through without hesitation. He wouldn't miss the church, he wouldn't miss the kids being scared to come up and say 'hi.'
For some odd reason, as Rob neared the ocean shore, it seemed to be brighter around there then on the other side of the trees. It looked like there was a large lantern somewhere. The light was swaying back and forth as there were a sort of breeze. It didn't take long for him to find out where it was coming from, there was a large ship a little down the shore. Rob didn't know what to think. There weren't really any ships in Bristol. He looked down at the ground and realized that there were footprints leading to the ship. Since Rob had no morals, he followed them.
