Prince Matthew has never been able to express his feelings, of any sort. He has always been cold towards people. Until he meet Princess Josie. When they first meet they fought like siblings but were the best of friends. One of the first feelings he ever showed was friendship. To Josie. Happiness, along with all the other emotions that come with friendship, followed. Then she grew up,and in many ways matured. Now, the feeling everyone thought Matthew would never feel, has appeared somewhere deep in side his chest. Love. Only no one knows it. 'Why', you may ask? Because Matthew has one problem, one fear. He is afraid of expressing himself. Everyone in his kingdom knows this. Even though he wants to tell Josie of his love, he has never been able to. Therefore, he vowed next time he got the chance to say, 'I love you', he'd take it. However, he didn't expect the chance to come so soon, or in front of so many people.
It was October 19. Matthew's 21 birthday. Kingdoms from all over the world are attending. Josie's included. It was half way though the night. Matthew and Josie were swaying together to a slow song, called 'When You Say Nothing At All'. Josie's head was resting on Matthew's shoulder and her hands were around his neck. Matthew's arms were intertwined around her waist, resting on the small of her back. Josie looked up and caught him staring at her. She smiled.
"Matt..I think I'm falling in love with you." Josie sighed dreamily. Matthew froze and stared down at her. The whole hall stopped and stared at them, waiting his reply.
Odd silence
"Josie.. I.." Matthew took a deep breath,"love you too." Matthew stopped briefly and continued before Josie could say a word, "I might not say it, but I do. I am sorry..." He looked anywhere, but into Josie's eyes. "...that I haven't said it before, now." Taking a chance he looked at her. "Man, I'm so lame!" He swore under his breath hoping she didn't hear
"Matt?" She drew out of his arms shaking her head in agreement, "Your right!"
"Huh?" Confusion was written all over Matthew's face.
"You are right!" She giggled softly, "You are lame!"
"WHAT!"
"If you haven't figured out by now, I don't need you to tell me you love me." she said aloud while thinking,
'Cause I have my own ways of knowing.' He rolled his eyes in disbelief.
"Oh, yea? Just how is that?"
"You really want to know?" She had a twinkle in her eyes. Matthew pulled her back into his arms and smiled at her. He nodded.
"The smile, on your face, lets me know you need me." She sang along with the song playing. Matt's eyes filled with emotion.
"Theres a truth in your eyes, saying you'll never leave me." He gently caressed her cheek. Serenity smiled sweetly. She covered his hand with hers.
"And the touch of your hand says you'll catch me whenever I fall." He opened his mouth to speak, but she placed two fingers on his lips to stop him.
"You say it best when you say nothing at all." She removed her fingers and kissed him softly.
"Not that it didn't sound 'great' coming from you." She looked him in the eye and winked at him. Matt laughed. He pulled her in for one very passionate kiss as the other attendants broke in to applause.
6 months later
A very nervous Josie stepped out from behind door taking her fathers hand. She was dressed in a white satin wedding dress with her hair in a bun, little curls falling slightly around her face. Her hand shook. Her father squeezed it reassuringly. She glanced over the guests to her soon-to-be husband. Matthew smiled at her, eyes sparkling in love for her. Her fathers walked her to Matthew, handing him her hand. At the touch of his hand, all her doubts and nervousness disappeared. She recited her vows and slipped the ring on his finger. As the priest went recite Matthew's with him, Matt stopped him saying he had his own vows. The priest nodded and Matthew looked Josie in the eye.
"Josie, your where my first friend, my first love. You showed me how to feel, how to live. You showed what I had been missing in my life. I can't live without you. I promise to protect, love, and honor you, till death do us part. I love you." He placed the ring on her finger, then brought her hand to his lips and kissed it. Crocidile tears slipped past her eyes.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Later that night, after the reception, Matthew and Josie walked though the chruch. As they proceeded down the rows to the door, a song filled the room. The last words heard before the door to the church closed behind them, were also the words that started it all,
"When you say nothing at all".
The End.
