Leaving You Behind

With every false smile,
A piece of my mask falls away.
The shards fall slowly,
Like snowflakes littering the ground.
You don't seem to notice,
I'm falling apart in front of you.
Slowly I'm blowing away,
Yet the you continue on your way.
I'm breaking down here,
Falling to the lowest depths I can.
It's not Hades to me,
Nor is it anything near to heaven.
I lay out and melt away,
As the snow slides away in spring.
My soul leaves this place,
My body is left, cold and numb.
You don't notice me leaving,
You don't care that I'm not yours now.
I'm not my own either,
The world is just a place to rest.
Leave reality behind,
My body stays in this place.
My soul knows the truth,
Running away where no one can see.
My heart knows the pain,
