Story of a Stranger.
Nora stepped into the shop. She was so hungry. She walked around the shelves, looking at the cameras. When she decided thats it was safe, she shoved a loaf of bread into her backpack and headed to the door. On her way she bumped into a lady doing her shopping. "Sorry." she mumbled, picking up her backpack and leaving.
"Strange." said the woman, looking at Nora's retreating back.
Nora headed towards the school. Outside the gates, she stopped. She couldn't go back there. The taunts, pushing and shoving of her peers. Nora sighed, pulling out the bread. Well, she wasn't going home. Her drunked father would simply kick her out. Literally. Nora sighed again and headed towards the bridge. Biting into a slice of bread, she looked at the water moving under her. It couldn't be that bad, drowning. Nora dropped the bread over the side, watching it fall about ten metres into the water, being pulled under until she couldn't see it anymore. Could she do it? Nora climbed over the railing, holding onto it tightly with her hands. Standing infront of the rail, she looked behind her. Nobody stood there.
Nobody to stop her.
Nobody who cared.
Nora turned back, looking around her. She was holding onto the last strings of life. But they were slipping through her hands. Why bother? Nora let go of the railing and the strings of her past life.
As Nora saw the water and her looming doom rushing towards her, she smiled. Death must be better than this. As she hit the cold water and was pulled under, she looked up at the bridge. Still nobody. As black spots formed infront of her eyes she gave in, breathing in the surrounding water.
Laura looked at the television. A young girl had jumped off the city bridge earlier today. The news was showing a photo of the girl. Putting down her morning shopping, she sighed. The girl looked familiar. Laura sighed again and put the shopping away. It didn't matter. She didn't know the girl, she was a stranger. "Laura?" called her boyfriend. Laura smiled. She stood up and hugged him, dismissing all thoughts of the girl who had comitted suicide because nobody cared. It didn't matter, as long as she was happy. Which she was.
THE END
