I escape to my car,
Braving wind and raindrops,
To seek the comfort of a cushioned seat.
Women under umbrellas hurry by,
A man in a suit hands me a Bible and says,
"God be with you."
I revel in the heater blowing warmth,
In the soft crooning of the radio.
The rain slides easily over my windows,
Creating gentle patterns,
Until I wipe them away with the abrupt
Flick of a lever.
It is Monday -- a day for school, a day for work,
A day for rain.
