Evolution
by Jareth Valentine

Nothing ever stays the same
Why must the whole world change?
There's nothing absolute in life
that doesn't rearrange.
Nothing's where it used to be.
It's all been moved around.
Everything I know is lost...
But something else is found.
From the ashes, new things rise,
Quite different from the old.
The sand becomes a crystal cave.
The lead turns into gold.
Though nothing ends, it all ends well.
The new things make me smile.
And, though I know they'll leave me, too,
They'll be here for a while.
