SANCTUARY

Home is where I run to

When I want somewhere to hide.

Away from the world I hate.

A safe place,

A sanctuary.

Terrors of reality plague me

I can’t handle it.

I know everything.

And I hate it all.

So I run home.

Home to my room

I lock the doors

Close the windows

Take deep breaths.

There’s a monster here too

It’s followed me home

Invaded my sanctuary.

Unleashed the world

Forcing me to face it

I don’t want to.

It knows all my hopes

And crushes them

It knows all my fears,

And sets them loose

It knows that I tried to hide

But it rips my blanket from me

Yet still I run

I run home to my sanctuary

Back into its arms

There’s nowhere else to go

But back into my tainted bliss.
