White Winter Wonders
A cold whip of wind blew past the girl,
Stirring her hair and flushing her face.
She smiled with a grin,
And trudged through the pile of white.
Christmas was near,
She knew, she knew,
And she wanted to get the perfect thing for her friend.
The white ice licked her cheek,
And the girl looked to the gray opal above her.
The floating snow whirling through the sky made the child think.
Her heart throbbed in a rushed beat…
Thu-thump, thu-thump, thu-thump…As she thought about her true affection.
Perhaps he felt the same way? And perhaps she didn’t have to get him
something that only money could buy?
There was only one way to figure it out…
It was finally Christmas,
School was out for break,
And across the world, children opened presents in hopes of getting things.
The boy who she cared so much for,
Opened her present last,
To keep the secret for himself, and hide it in his heart.
He unwrapped the festive ribbon,
And carefully opened the little box…
And what should he find,
But a tiny pendant in his tastes?
With little stars and dragons hanging here and there,
And many other meaningful things.
I cannot describe the leap of joy the boy felt when he saw the amazingly
handmade gift,
For the feeling he felt could only come,
From such a meaningful present.
