Shattered Reflection

I look in the mirror,

And what do I see,

Do I see a girl,

That was once part of me?

Light scatters across the surface,

Making the image glow,

Bathed in ethereal light.

The other side of me,

I see shadows play twisting the images,

Past,

Present,

Future,

Paradise,

Purgatory,

Damnation,

The shadows show me these things.

Which side of the mirror is truly me,

Is it the light,

The dark,

The balance in between.

Balance shows the world today,

Then,

Now,

When,

There,

Happiness,

Loneliness,

Entrapment,

Balance looks close to both.

Myself seems to fit in neither or,

Not fully light,

Not all dark,

The balance in between represents humanity.

My questions started with questions for myself,

I realize then myself is not me without self,

Selfless,

Self Guided,

Self confidence,

Self esteem,

Everyone carries the qualities of self.

The reflection slowly shatters in my mind,

Replaced by the true mirror and my answers,

Answer this...

Which side do YOU see if this was you?
