The world has change a lot in time. Prices have gone up, morals have gone down, population has gone up, and the luster love has gone down. In the last 400 years so many things have been accomplished. For example, in 1728 the first successful gun was created. It was simple, yet very complicated: load the gun with a long, thin, and pointy piece of metal (they took the idea from the arrow a bit), then dunk the whole gun in water to prevent it from over heating, put leaves around the metal, put a very explosive oil around the leaves, light the leaves and cover the lid quickly. Although it was a very slow process, it was ingenious at the time. I was quite impressed then, for it could kill from far away with one shot if the shot hit a critical area. Now guns have ten levels of attack that range from 1- 10. Using a sort of electrical charge, the gun works on how much energy is needed; whether to stun or actually kill a person. The gun bases the weight off 150 pound (an elf word) person. If the person weighs more or less then that, the person with the gun will need to decrease or increase the stun to their need. At level 5 it will stun a 150 pound person, and at 7 kill them. Level 10 will kill anyone normally below 300 pounds. There are some guns used for people above 300 pounds, but many people don't find these people to be any real threat, for their state of health. It takes no preparation what so ever to prepare the gun, except to make sure the gun is charged before use, which only takes 5 seconds to do. In 400 years, that's a big advancement. You could kill someone so easily is quickly now then before. What a wonderful thing.
I remember when cheekas were the main source of transportation in the world. Although a very tempered creature, cheekas could be easily trained by anyone (although they typically responded better to elves when I was young). Now everyone uses hover vehicles, and ONLY hover vehicles. No one uses anything for transportation besides hover vehicles, and their own feet of course. People even hovered on just a piece of metal, which they call "hover boards". You always see them doing these little maneuvers on these things: trying to show off their abilities; or as they called it their "blitz". Other hover vehicles such as hover cars were fast and safe for the environment (elfish word for nature). Of course they were designed by elves; that was why they were so safe. Humans could care less about nature and the prevention of pollution. Elves had some of the most intelligent scientist (elves have some of the most interesting words) on our world.
The world has seemed to become more diverse than it ever has been, I remember, yet they still seem to stay to themselves. Who I am talking about is man, elves, cactiles, and the now for the most part, legendary dwarves. They have mixed together in some places, mostly in the cities. They have begun to get past how they look, act, or think and work together. They've all advanced in technology equally (except the dwarves, who are behind the others in more areas then one), but they still hold their old grudges against one another. They don't seem to accept their differences, and they might never.
The only thing they think about is themselves and what they want. All of them are egoistic. They're always thinking about some sort of materialistic thing or "love". Most people don't really know the meaning of the word. Elves used the word to describe how they felt for each other, as brothers, sisters, parents, cousins, mother, fathers, and other such family members. They didn't believe that you could really love some one that was not related to you, that didn't have the same blood as you. Man didn't believe that and changed the meaning of the word. You could say man ruined it, in a way. Man made the word more general than it was originally tended to be. The elves tried to teach man what true love was, but man just didn't understand it or he simply believed in something else the elves did not understand or just didn't believe in.
I had been working in the Yuna government for about 384 years, helping in anyway to improve society in the land of men. In 1702 I joined the government of Yuna, the same year the new government was finalized. The government they had set up at the beginning was very imperfect, and I tried to help as I could. The system was well thought out, but the people relied too much on the few people to run their lives accordingly and successfully. People did not want to give any effort and get things for themselves; they expected people to give it to them. For those years I had been working on improving society, creating new laws and proposing on how to deal with foreign countries. For years I had been listened to very openly, and I was highly respected councilman. Many people would stand behind me on issues. If I thought it was the right thing to do, they would believe. Alas, as years went on my followers retired, and were replaced by younger and as it seemed more naïve people. I started being out voted on some decisions at first, and over becomings I was being out voted constantly. Now I can't say I'm perfect (because I do make mistakes) and that I'm right all the time, but I felt my experience over those younger to me should have been more vital to those new to the scene. I have often wondered if they believed I was too old to see the world had changed; that I was living in the past and shouldn't be taken seriously. Maybe there right, but I always believe my perceiving of the world was most accurate. Especially with my creditability, my opinion should have been more influential. Medicine, education, and technology (So many of our words come from the elves) in general had come so far in my years in office. Although we had faced many problems with elves, I had always kept the relations between the two maintained. Seeing how little I was helping the people anymore, in 2086 I left the government of Yuna.
With me out of the government, the last 10 years have been an awful time in the country of Yuna. Some years passed by at first, nothing seemed notable. Then it seemed all at once, changes came rapidly. Many of my enemies, who had been threatened in the past by me, began to open up more on ideas they had, many that held some controversy (again an elfish word). They did not need to worry about my presence anymore, fighting against their ideas and showing them their proposals were unsafe or obscure. They could do, really, as they wanted now. They couldn't do it by themselves though; no it was far too great a risk. A new group was formed, called "YEAP". It stood for "Yuna Enrichment & Advancement Party". In a matter of months it had got 30% of voters in the party. That was the largest percentage of all the 5 parties. The party promised a better life for everyone and a new age of recognition for the country of Yuna. They declared that the years of being second in the world (behind the Elves) in power was going to cease. They made lots of promises to the people of Yuna, and many believed them. Mostly the younger generation that took their promises to heart I think. I have found that younger people are much more open to new ideas. There focus was all about the people, and improving their lives, YEAP contracted. With the voters standing behind the party, YEAP members started filling up positions in a flash.
His name was Rafael Vain. He was the leader of the fastest growing party in the history of the Yuna, "YEAP". With others in the party, they had been funding the party from the very beginning. Mr. Vain was a very wealthy business man, with more tions then he knew what to do with. What his true intentions were for joining politics, I could see. I had been watching him for a long time now, when he was younger he has sparked my interest. His father had been a councilman years ago when I was. His father didn't care for me, for his own reasons I knew why, and Rafael took right after him. Rafael was actually more intelligent then his father, especially when it came to getting people to do what he wanted, manipulating them. He had seemed to have had a very good childhood; he always got what he wanted. His father was a very wealthy man as he would be, but wasn't home much, and neither was his mother who took many vacations with friends. The caretaker his mother had got for him took care of him for the most part. She was a young elfin who met his mother on the street, and had beg her for any job she could give her. His mother took pity onto her, and allowed her to watch her son, but put cameras in the house to watch her. His father was racist and hated elves, but allowed it even though he was against it. He would mumble racial slurs about her when she wasn't around, in front of Rafael. He was a small child, not very strong, easy target for bullies. If he got hurt, he wept, and his caretaker came to his aid. At the private eleven school he went to he did extremely well there, and was at the top of his class every year (His father had gotten him into it since it was the best school he could afford, elves are no elves he wanted to best for him). Problem was he was always getting picked on for being human. His parents never noticed, or worried about him, since they were always away. His hatred for elves mounted even more so because of this. He never complained though, he just kept it to himself, allowing it to brew inside.
In 2088, YEAP held 560 of the 700 councilman seats, the most a party had ever got in such a short amount of time. Rafael Vain also became high councilmen, with an easy victory. He quickly took action, and stated, "We're reformatting society as we know it; we're going to get all the bugs out." A month after elections YEAP sent out letters and held conferences. In the letter they gave a brief summary of their new changes:
1. Starting on 1 Solaris (first day of spring) 2090, all educational
schools and programs running will be closed. For the next two years we
will be training future teachers to have their own private "training
schools". Each school will condense of a maximum of 50 students and a
minimum of 5 students per teacher. We will pay for each training
school's books and other educational supplies. We will not however
supply for the schools physical educational (see paragraph 3).
Training schools will allow any student between the ages of 8-18
becomings, but will choose whom they accept. If the school does not
allow a child because of age, race, or sex they will prosecuted by the
law to its full extent. We will release other information later on.
2. Children are required to go to training school from the ages 8 to 18.
Once the required age is passed, more years of school are optional. It
is required to pass six years of training school before they can be
accepted to any job that requires a work status of 4 hours a day.
3. Statistics show that 75% of the population in the country of Yuna is
not at the correct weight they should be at. To have healthy and fit
children it will be mandatory for all children to exercise for a
minimum of two hours per day. Teachers will watch as they exercise and
record time, effort, and improvement the student is showing. More
information will be available later on.
4. We have also decided to use more tions (or money as elves call it) for
military and technology developments. To forge ahead to a better
tomorrow we need to eliminate crime as well as promote better
equipment for our industry.
5. Finally, in the next year we will be sending out a refund to all tax
payers. The rebate will be 70,000 tions to each individual tax payer.
Thank you for taking your time to read this.
Thankfully,
Head Councilman Rafael Vain
Signed on: 34 Vein (middle spring) 2088
With these new changes, and other, I felt I should get involved. For the last 2 becomings I had been living off the tions I had made as councilman (I was not one to spend money much). I felt that starting a training school was a small way I could help with the community. I needed something to do anyways.
Training took about three months. It went from 4-8 at night, every night. It was not very difficult to become a teacher, all they did was instruct us what we had to accomplish. They told us we would get our supplies for our school once we had students enrolled. They also explained to us about business, and that we would have to contribute some tions for the physical education part of the training school. We were supposed to make a profit and make up the difference in our supplies we had to supply.
After the training was accomplished, I started quickly on starting my school. I bought a cheap building with only 2 rooms (one of the rooms doubles the size the other) and a small bathroom for about 54,900,000 tions. It came with a small back yard as well, which I planned to use for the physical training program. It had previously been a small neighborhood store, I remembered. The government had bought them out and then sold it to me taking off 100,000 tions because I was working for the government. The government said they would pay all teachers salary till the first day of Solaris, when school was suppose to begin. The building was in bad shape when I bought it, so it took me a week to clean it all up. Then afterwards, I had some people help me move in my desk and other equipment. I then spent some more tions on simple physical equipment. It only added up to around 90,000 tions, not much. Finally, a month later, the place was finished. I put some artwork and other historical monument I enjoyed on the walls. Hopefully the children wouldn't ruin them. Although they were the just copies, they still meant a lot to me. Oh so many memories.
Although I hate to admit this, I was hoping my reputations (being on the council for all those years) would attract more people to my school then the others in the area. Many training schools were flooding the area with advertisements, promoting their school. Sadly, only one person recognized my name out of the bunch. He was around 85 becomings, so I wasn't surprised.
His name was Ronald Haro; he had lived in East Yuna all his life. He was a big man with a hairy face. We started talking about how things use to be like.
"Things were very different then. People were friendlier then than now." He told me.
"I would have to agree with you, it's too bad really."
"Yeah, the country was great becomings ago. The best times of my life were when you were a councilman. I remember every year you were on the CID. Whether you had started a new law or you had helped negations between to nations. You were like my hero." He told me.
I smiled, a bit flattered. "Yes I was always trying to do something to improve things."
"Not to sound rude, but I was a little surprised to hear you were still kickin'. Take this from another old geezer." He laughed. "I remember I was around 15 becomings when you became a councilman. You must have been around 40 or 45, right? The minimum becomings back then was 40, and hardly anyone was that young on the council. So that would make you around what, 110 or 115 becomings? I've heard of people living that long before, but it is still very rare. You're even still working too! I praise you! When I was 70 I started living off my Yuna benefits. You seem remarkable well for you age too." He complimented me.
"Thank you. I just think that I have a very youthful soul." I told him and laughed.
He laughed. "You gave up being a councilman what, a couple of becomings ago? With all these changes as of late, was in only that long ago? It's stupid you left the council, but I had a feeling you were pressured to. YEAP wanted to have full control of the council, and when you stated you wouldn't join the party, they wanted you out." He said.
"I have nothing against YEAP; I just don't think they're going in the right direction. It was my choice to leave; there really wasn't anything I could do. It was out of my hands."
"Yes, it's a pity. I don't like what the government is doing now, but what could I do? I think YEAP is just a fad anyways, the power of the party will settle down in due time." said. He then looked down for a moment. "I want you to meet my treson (his son's son)." He smiled and looked towards the child sitting in the seat next to him.
"His name is Aaron. Now to be honest he isn't the brightest kid."
"Hey I heard that!" Aaron said.
"Oh sorry," He laughed. "He is a good kid though. My wife and I have raised him since he was just a baby."
I smiled toward Aaron "What do you want to be when you're older?" I asked.
He looked like he was deeply thinking about it, said. "I want to be the star player of the Yellow Yuna Kakar Team!" He began showing us his strength, stretching his arms and legs.
His treason laughed. "He's just like his father. He loved Kakar too." He rubbed Aaron's head. Aaron gave him a funny face back.
I laughed. "Yes Kakar is a great game; full of strategy and excitement. It's not like how it used to be though, before all the players cared about was making as many tions as they could."
"Very true, I loved it when my father brought me to the games as a child. I always had a good time."
"I haven't been to a game in becomings myself." I explained.
"So, do you think Aaron can join your training school?" he said, changing the subject.
I smiled. "I think he can join. I will need his GI (government information) and for you to sign out some forms." I handed a registration form and pulled out my Cid (Communicative Informational Device, used for informational purposes). I check the official government page where I found listings of student information.
I didn't find anything too out of the ordinary with Aaron. His grades were average. His physical abilities were quite good. Before people were able to apply for training school, they were required to be tested in mental and physical abilities. The government then put the information available to the training schools to compare and pick it's been students. For me I preferred to acquire even the worst students, since they gave the best challenge. Improvement was the best thing for a person I believed. It can alter your outlook on life.
Sadly though, I didn't meet many other applicants as welcoming. Many of the students' relations were quite quiet actually, they didn't have anything to say or ask at all. The kids didn't particular care about training school and all the parents were focused on was a place for their kids to go when they worked. None of the children seemed special at all to me, except one.
It was around 2.5 NT (Night Time) that they had scheduled their appointment, one of the later ones that night. It had been a long day, so I was a bit irritable, but I kept being positive. They came exactly on time, and sat down abruptly with no hesitation.
"Hello, thank you for coming." I told them, the lanky women and a small boy
The women looked around hesitantly "Yes well, my name is Phyliss Cotillo. " She stuck her hand out towards me and I shook it.
"May I ask what your name is?" I put out my hand towards the young boy sitting next to her.
He looked at my hand questionable, but just looked away from it. Uno (non- married woman) Cotillo nudged him in the shoulder and he put out his hand towards me and shook it weakly.
"Sorry he's shy. His name is Kyle Benvolio Mickulskis." She told me.
I smiled. "Mickulskis is a very uncommon name, I like it. Why are you interested in attending my training school?"
Kyle didn't say anything and Uno Cotillo shifted in her seat. "To be honest, being a single legal parent isn't easy. I'm apart of the OAUMA (Organization Against Un-Moral Acts) and as a non-profit organization, we do not calculate many tions." She exhaled. "I've had to use Kyle's money tions entirely each month."
"Monthly tions?" I asked.
"I'm not actually Kyle's mother. His father and mother passed away some years ago, and I've been taking care of Kyle. I'm his sismo (Mother's sister). Although I love him to death, supporting the both of us isn't easy." She turned toward him when she said this, but he didn't look as though he was aware of what she was saying.
"That's perfectly fine: the price of this school is reasonable cheap. Do you have any questions about the school?" I asked.
"Yes. I don't care about the physical education the government has ordered. Being in good physical condition is fine, but to me the mind is more important." She pointed to her head. I want to make sure Kyle has the best mental education you can give. I want Kyle to be able to get in the best ETS (Extra Training School) he can."
"I agree with you, intelligence is more important. Do not worry; I will make sure Kyle is fully prepared once he leaves the training school."
"Good; when Kyle took the test for his GI he did extremely well in mental ability. Since he did so well, I want to make sure he develops even more as he grows older."
"Did he? Let me see. Read this over and fill it while I check." I handed Uno Cotillo the registration form. I pulled out my Cid and checked Kyle's GI.
Kyle did do very well in mental ability, way above average. He was in the top 99% of his age group. In physical ability he did very poorly, which evened out his overall grade. Looking at him he, did look rather weak. He was a thin short boy with short black hair, scrawny arms and a very plain expression. There was nothing very unique to the eye. Looking over his GI, I noticed something very strange. His blood type was Type FB; a blood type that was radically unheard of. Mine was FA, and that was rare as it was. FA blood types usually only occurred in certain particular beings. Was there something different about this boy?
I watched them drive away through the window, and went back to my office to look over all the applicants. Then I came across Kyle's. He was an interesting boy. He reminded me of myself a bit, kind of a boring child. I wonder what is family history was. He must be related to some unnatural being, but who?
That was eight years ago. Kyle joined my training school and exceeded greatly in mental education. Anything I gave him to do he was able to do tenfold. I wanted to advance him into higher learning but he did extremely poorly in physical education. He did as I told him, but he did it shabbily. He told me he'd rather read, write, or calculate then exercise. I told him I knew and understood his reasoning, but it was a requirement by the government. Every 2.5 months my students were tested on how they had advanced in mental and physical ability. They would meet at the old school for the tests. He did not advance in physical education as much as the government had as a standard, and this held him back. They sent him no work that was harder, so he started to get bored. I had to start giving him extra work. He found the reading I gave him difficult and started to read all the time. I had to ask him to put the book away when it was time for physical education. He just loved to read and write. I had never met any child like him in a very long spell.
He was also a nice lad. His sismo was a good role model for him. He seemed to have very good morals and was a very kind person. He always seemed so depressed I noticed. He kept to himself most of the time, and didn't talk to the other kids. The other kids found him odd, and kept away from him. He didn't laugh at the things they did, he didn't like the things they did, he didn't dress the way they did. He was an outcast as it were. People picked on him, of course as kids would to anyone they considered different.
I remember one time, when he was around 9 becomings some of the older students had cornered him and were beating him repeatedly. I knew helping him would not really make him feel any better, so I stayed out of it. I watched the scene from the window, glaring at him. Once the kids were done beating on him, he lay on the ground in bruises. I watched as he stood up, expecting him to be crying. I don't know why though, but instead he looked very angry. Anger I've never seen on a child. Even the older kids looked a tad shaken from it, and stood away from him. What made me nervous were his eyes turned pure white. A white that you could see no emotion in, nor tell what the person was thinking; it seemed as though there was no person there but an emotionless being. I knew I had to investigate this child more, so I called in a friend of mine I had not seen in years.
We arranged a small meeting at my house. He enter and quickly took his seat; we exchanged no words till I welcomed him.
"Hello Bernard, it's been becomings since I've last seen you." I told him.
"Yes, I've been working hard in the OAMUA for these becomings. May I ask what do you need?" He asked me.
"Yes, I need you to investigate a young lad named Kyle Benvolio Mickulskis. He is quite abnormal; he doesn't seem like an ordinary child." I told him. "I haven't seen anyone like him before who wasn't one of us."
"Oh really," He pondered. "Do you think it's possible he works for.?" I cut him off.
"No, no I just don't think so. I think he may be the next."
"We've already found the next."
"I know this, but there is something about him. He's not natural; He has a presence on him I can't quite figure out."
"Hmmm, I'll look into it."
Many changes came over those six years. The government added three hours of physical education per day. So less then half the day was spent on mental education and the other half was spent on physical education. This brought more displeasure to Kyle, but I allowed him an hour to read.
Many people left and came over the years. Kyle and Aaron were the only two from the beginning that were still here in 2096 (current year). The root of this was that the government was raising taxes and the unreliable economy; you could be considered in the high class, middle class, or poor class at any time. The poor class seemed to grow more and more each year. Although I could say I was never overwhelmed with students, it seemed more and more parents needed a cheaper training school to go to. I was surprised that in 2096 I had 45 students. Keeping my students under control by myself wasn't too difficult. I never gave them too much of a hard time on their mental education, I just told them to do their best. Although they never did, I think they liked I didn't pressure them. Their parents pressured them more than I ever did.
The government took control of the ETS board in 2092. They were now all ran by government officials. When you enrolled in the ETS now, you signed a contract to be apart of the military for 10 years starting once you start your ETS. The government would then pay for your education as long as you stayed by the contract. Since most jobs would not hire you unless you went to an ETS, people were forced to sign the agreement. The government no longer needed to create its own military; they had one that was already pre-prepared.
The next four years would be an important time in history. How it unfolds you will see.
"They fell with the thoughts of the beginning."
