chase after rainbows
go wait for red,
orange and yellow,
and green, purple, blue

see only gray
the dim gray sky
angst to the eye

chase after rainbows
go wait for the sun
light shining down
heat soothing everyone

feel only trickles
from the endless rain
savor the pain

chase after rainbows
go wait for the birds
to dance, to sing
melody of the free

hear only thunder
its mighty roar
as rain continues to pour

chase after rainbows
go wear yourself out
run fast, run wild
after wavering hues

fall to the ground
and kiss the grass
rainbow it never was
