Just Like Yesterday

I dreaded the fact of seeing it
As another tear runs down my cheek
I brush it away briskly, but still there is more to come
You comfort me
Just like yesterday
You held me and they stopped
Like vapor they vanished from my cheeks
You didn't notice them
They are but invisible enigmas on my tearless cheeks
Just like yesterday
I put yet another mask on, one stronger than before
Hoping to conceal the truth within me
Just as I stepped through that door again
My mask shattered and fell to the floor below me
The stray tears formed again and ran down my cheeks
As the blood had run down my arms
Just like yesterday
My heart drummed and ached
My lips trembled and uttered no words
I struggled to say what was meant to say
Yet I gave up in only one minute
I harbor all these feelings inside
You bring them out
Just like yesterday
You told me I was great
My mask shattered again and I broke completely
I melt underneath that touch of yours
You seem to see right through my mask
Just like yesterday
I cry because you are my hero
My drug and my everything
Another stray tear is briskily wiped away
With the gentle stroke of your words and heart
Just like yesterday
You saved me and I place the blade back into the drawer
