To Memories

By Shanchan

Heavy drawer, filled through age
Gliding open, revealing the passing of time
Leaning upon each other, like wounded soldiers,
Endless memories lay, held upon paper

A forgotten script, vowing friendship
Promising love, reminiscing innocence
The delicate ties that bind us to each other,
To friendship, to an unbroken trust

There it lies, wafting up wistful longing
Like the clouds of dust in a car’s wake
Overtaken by irrepressible urge
The papers snatched up, and opened to reveal

The tattered photographs of old,
Worn though love and care
A smear, a tear stain, sustained from sorrow;
Seen and diffusing through the dusty memories

Like a sharp nail, attracted to a magnet
Emotions fly through a clouded mind,
Knocking away barriers built through time
Leaving bare, almost forgotten memories for us to find
