Streets of Heroes

Like balls of light they fall
Like a race in air
Gliding, diving, rapidly descending
To the streets tread by heroes.

Like a river they cover the stone
Shimmers of steel greys
Their smooth shells replacing granite
On the streets tread by heroes.

The hero reaches with trembling fingers
Letting the drops fall through the palm of his hand
And his boots push through the streets
Tread by heroes.

The rain soothes new wounds
Wounds won in battles just fought
And the crowds are cheering
On the streets tread by heroes.

Another second gone by, more silver falls
He stoops and tries to scoop
The liquid metal into his rough hands
And the people cheer on
Through the streets of heroes.
