Slowly she walked out

Unsure of her safety

Yet willing to risk it

Lest stay there longer

Out of the gates

Slowly she walks

Others are welcomed

By families long missed

She remains

No hope

That someone will come

For she watched them die

Seems like long ago

And yet also so recent

Sitting in the cold

She would despair

But numbness came to her

Long ago

At the shootings

At the burnings

Crouching there

She stays

’Till someone finds their soul

And takes her in

If someone ever does
