Elements of the Goddesses,
forces which together control
all that there is, and their Symbols,
holy representation of
Their power in the mortal realms,
meant to keep Ellara’s power
subtly there, ever present
in places They are forgotten.
-
First Air, the breath of Life, that which
wakes the soul, sustains the body,
inspiring and expiring,
the anima and aspira
of all, represented by the
Sword. With it, Life’s Champions do
Her justice, Her mercy, and Her
will, ever for the common good.
-
Water, next, to refresh and to
rejuvenate, the substance and
the means of reincarnation,
sacred to Nature and honoured
in Her Realm. By the Chalice is
it borne, and just a sip can bring
a closeness, a harmony with
Her, a divine inspiring guide.
-
Bright Fire belongs to Chaos,
the Element of change and chance,
which cannot help but alter where
it alteration finds, ever-
morphing for its fickle Mistress.
The Champion who wields the Staff
commands its power, and feels Her
favour and Her eternal strength.
-
To Nature again fair Earth falls,
solid and faithful, slow to change
and hard to scry, birthing both wood
and metal. With the Platter, She
invokes its fortitude, and the
bearer gains Her wisdom and Her
good sense, gifts rarely given but
well-bestowed on her Champions.
-
Death the darker Elements rules,
first in Time inescapable,
to which all mortal heads must one
day bow. The Clock bears its tidings,
etching marks on all living things,
carefully noting the progress
of each in turn, and of the fate
which not even its keeper flees.
-
Then in Shadow the Dark Lady
rules, casting Her spell of darkness
where She wills, casting forth despair
and sorrow, and other haunts to
harm the fragile soul. By the Mask
it shows itself, Champion set
to guard its secrets, protected
in turn by provided cover.
-
Life counters this with Light, shining
from Her glory, the revealing
Element born of Her grace. With
the Crystal, the pure souled and kind
hearted may defend themselves and
what they cherish, for Her keenest
joy is in the triumph of love
and goodness’s swift victory.
-
Finally, Spirit, grandest prize
of Chaos, which lifts the soul and
inspires mortals to greatness
with Her fondest virtues, valour
and courage. In the Crown She sets
this sway, that Her Champions might
overcome opposition and
rule with magnificence and pride.
-
Eight there are, and two for each, to
be held ever in balance, so
that the right order may be so
maintained. They are visible to
all, as They touch all, though many
have forgotten how to look. It
matters not, for the influence
is forever most resolute.

[Just a little Ellaran theology for you. In case you hadn’t noticed, we’re overfond of capitalisation. Bonus points to anyone who can find the line I stole from Shakespeare.]
