I Fear What I Love

By Kym Owsley

I love Her, I cherish Her, Her power is infused within my kisses,

But the love is one-sided, I can tell from the way She hisses,

I can tell She hates me when She withdraws and then pushes me away,

So I just quietly watch my murderous love until it’s time to call it a day.

She doesn’t mean to do it, though She has plenty times before,

Then again, if I were in love with any other, things would be a total bore,

So I’ll forgive my love again & again no matter how many lives She takes, No matter how many dreams She breaks or attempts on my own life She makes.

She curses, She growls, She scratches and drowns,

Yet she’s still revered and adored.

Hell hath no fury like that aquatic beauty,

It makes me love Her all the more.

Eruptions, Earthquakes and Tornadoes are Her siblings weapons,

Yet they only serve to make Her stronger and more vicious,

I’m ashamed to admit, that the more power She gets,

Only serves to make Her more fatally delicious.

Despite it all, I love every threat Her lips doth say,

She hurts me and hates me; I wouldn’t have it any other way.

She is a harmless, noxious, and saccharine potion,

She is my inevitable assassin, my love, She is the Ocean.
