profound

You took on the life
not meant for one so divine,
but of mortal man,
a world so filled with strife,
You entered to refine
the tainted hearts, the Father’s Plan.

You carried the shame,
the sins of all humankind,
You shouldered alone,
heart burdened by the blame,
sorrow and love entwined,
seeds of salvation for us sown.

You endured the pain,
embedded thorns on Your head,
the nails driven in
Your body, not in vain,
so broken, torn, You bled,
pierced by the spear points of our sin.

You suffered the death
that was intended for me,
accepted the fall,
gave up Your final breath
to cruel mortality,
willingly died to free us all.
