The Big Man Upstairs

This is actually not really about God, not necessarily. It's more specifically about the authorities in my life, my equals, my betters, and those other personalities that crop up from time to time. I guess it could still be about God.

We get along like a house on fire,
though i still don't know who is the house and
who is the fire?
One was here long before the other. The house
will ultimately be around after the fire, but
hollow, empty, mournful.
As I was saying, don't you know,
the funny thing is this;
we have an agreement, not to interfere
with each other as far as possible.
That way, we get to tell each other,
on the closest possible terms,
our analysis of how we're doing.
We get the outsiders' perspective.
The objective view.
Then we play a little game where we leave each
other clues as to how we're doing.

He's not a bad Guy, I suppose.
And I guess I have a lot of respect for him.
