I’d Rather Sing

This melody will play

Upon my mind for every day

I fail to write the words,

To sing what I want to say.

My friends help me to run

From a new rising sun.

We scare the night away

Just trying to have some fun.

All I really want is to feel like I matter.

Does this life that I’m livin’ every day mean a thing?

I’m growin’ tired of tryin’ to plan, trying to do something that matters…

Cause I’m tired of the hopelessness it brings.

I’d just rather sing.

Exhaustion has a sound,

It’s the melody I’ve found.

Its endless lullabies

Have me sleeping on the ground.

I just want to feel

Something I’m certain is for real.

Maybe then

My bleeding memories will heal.

All I really want is to feel like I matter.

Does this life that I’m livin’ every day mean a thing?

I’m growin’ tired of tryin’ to plan, trying to do something that matters…

Cause I’m tired of the hopelessness it brings.

I just want to sing.

But I see a face

Of a girl, I can’t erase.

Somehow she lets me know

My purpose in this place.
