A Time of Need
I wanted to write a love story,
One of a boy with green eyes.
But then I realized, that you,
Had a competition for the prize.
He snuck up on me really,
When I though our love was dead,
I though I'd never have you,
And then of course I did.
A friend I needed,
And he the same I guess,
But a friend is not at all,
What I was to possess.
A second love,
Not as strong, but in expediency,
It seems. Joined you in
My heart, accidentally.
I thought he'd never love me,
Though now I've found the actuality,
He's loved me for a long time,
And he's standing at the end of practicality.
He too has another,
He too has found a love,
But like me he admits,
What we had was from above.
I didn't mean to love,
He didn't want to dare,
But it was a time of need,
For both of us did care.
And somehow through the times,
Of laughs and jokes and smiles,
His smile meant more to me,
And my laugh relieved the miles.
But in the end I know,
The truth will always lie,
In you my dearest love,
But know, for him, I cry.
