A Bend in the Way
Two boys of equal age,
Both with eyes so green.
Both of years too young,
And both within my reach.
I know you love me true,
And I know that true he could,
I know that I will love you,
And that him I'll never forget.
When I thought you were out,
I found him in need of love.
I understood his woes,
And accidentally fell in deep.
Then away he went,
Like a fleeting bird,
And in you came,
With valiant falcon heart.
And safe, I thought I was,
From falling in his arms,
For never did he love me,
Or, so I had believed.
Then back he creeps,
On bended knee.
To say my love was truly,
Nicely requited at one time.
So now my heart,
Full of uncertainty,
Sits at a great, winding,
Bend in the way.
Where do I go?
Where the love is true,
Or the heartstrings pull?
Do I choose him or you?
Where does my heart,
Lie in wait?
Or where will my heart be,
When I sleep or when I wake?
Do you love me truest?
Or do you love me best?
Or do you even love me?
Or do I live in jest?
In the waking reality,
I can not have him true.
But when there is a doubt,
Is it all right to keep you?
Disclaimer: This one too, like all the others come straight from my heart.
