Sweet Dreams of Reality
I tried to write you a poem
Or a song, or a sonnet.
I tried to write you a story
Or perhaps a play.
But each time my pen touched,
The paper on my desk.
My mind flew to you
And I was frozen in awe.
Your grace and poise
And sweet heart sang,
So clearly in my mind.
Far greater than the rest
I knew forever and more,
The others could not come
As close to perfection as you.
Never will they measure up
Or even strike a chance,
At your sight my heart
Decides to do a crazy dance.
I wish that you knew
How dearly I love you.
How do you not know?
You do? How can this be?
You read my mind or perhaps
My lips. You feel the same
You say? Now I know you jest.
Or perhaps I dream. Be it so
Then let me sleep a thousand
Moments more. Forever I will
Dream of you. And forever, I
Will see your love. Or perhaps
I will stay awake and do the same.
